Two-person villas at Kuru offer ample space for a relaxing stay. Each villa features a glass wall, allowing you to choose a view of either the resort or the lake.
Fireplaces add to the cozy atmosphere, and the sauna areas include bathtubs for soaking. The terrace offers a pleasant space to cool down. Breakfast is delivered to your villa, so you can enjoy it in peaceful privacy—whether in bed or outside, accompanied by birdsong.

“Being surrounded by nature, sustainability is a key part of our operations. The villas were prefabricated in factories, avoiding the need for extensive land alteration. We utilize geothermal heating and advanced automation to ensure energy consumption matches the actual need, preventing waste.”
Solitary: Local Food with International Flair
“The surrounding nature provides us with the best possible ingredients,” says Remi Trémouille, head chef and owner of restaurant Solitary.
“We source almost everything we need fresh and delicious from nearby areas.”
Before coming to Rantasalmi, French-born Trémouille gained inspiration from a variety of culinary cultures in restaurants around the world, including Australia. However, after returning home, he became increasingly captivated by the local food culture.
“The richness of our food traditions has been almost entirely forgotten,” he laments.
“Our forests are home to an incredible selection of clean, flavorful ingredients, but many modern people have nearly forgotten how to utilize them.”
Solitary’s menu is rooted in local ingredients, though Trémouille uses his international experience to occasionally infuse traditional ingredients with surprising, exotic flavors. However, the foundation is always authentically Finnish.
“Our suppliers are local: wild herbs grow everywhere, the waterways of Lake Finland provide delicious alternatives to farmed salmon, and nearby villages host sheep farms and ranches that raise Highland cattle.”
“Our team is also active: for example, our chef Samuli goes hunting and brings back hares for the restaurant, and we garnish our dishes with wild herbs and fireweed flowers collected by Sirkka-Liisa.”
Solitary’s offerings are highly seasonal, reflecting what nature provides at any given time. With no fixed menu, the restaurant has the freedom to follow the seasonal flow and make use of the ingredients available.
“And we don’t waste any leftovers. We ferment, pickle, and preserve everything we can,” Trémouille adds.
