What is Bistro Miljöö like?

The idea for Bistro Miljöö came from my (Ari’s) previous restaurant, where customers praised the service, atmosphere, and decor with comments like, “What a lovely setting” and “Such a beautiful atmosphere.”

When brainstorming the name for this new concept with my employees and family, we thought back to the feedback we received and decided to name it Miljöö, meaning atmosphere in Finnish.

Miljöö is a cozy bistro, approachable and welcoming, where we aim to offer dishes and drinks that suit all types of diners.

Our drinks menu has a wide range of cocktails and alcoholic beverages, both strong and light.

The food menu changes with the seasons, featuring a “Classics” section where customer favorites like whitefish, smoked reindeer, calf’s liver, veal schnitzel, and warm smoked salmon soup remain.

Seasonal starters, main courses, and desserts rotate, with a focus on dishes prepared with a Nordic twist.

For younger guests, we also have a children’s menu with kid-sized portions.

 As our official name is Bar & Bistro Miljöö, we also have a bar/lounge area where you can enjoy a drink.

We also offer a private 22-person cabinet available for booking, perfect for hosting events, private meals, or gatherings of your choice.

What is your recommendation from the menu?

Our top recommendation is to try the seasonal menus. Our head chef has put his heart into these dishes, and they offer the best representation of Miljöö’s offerings, with menus changing to reflect the flavors of the season.

If we had to choose just one dish, it would be the veal schnitzel, which is our classic and has been praised by both customers and food critics as one of the best in Finland. One of our chefs has been preparing this dish for over 8 years!

Who leads your kitchen? What is the kitchen’s philosophy? And what about your drink philosophy?

Our head chef is Petr Krevnak, who has Czech roots and has worked across Europe in various restaurants, including Michelin-starred establishments in France, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Finland.

Petr is passionate about cooking and developing dishes, drawing inspiration from media, past workplaces, his own recipes, and his team.

Our kitchen focuses on Nordic cuisine, incorporating international influences with Nordic ingredients and presentation.

Petr leads the kitchen team in preparing everything from scratch, with a strong emphasis on fresh and high-quality ingredients.

 The drink selection complements the dishes, with our sommelier having paired wines with the menus. We also offer wine packages to enhance the dining experience.

Our beer and cocktail selection is curated by our restaurant manager, Ilona Poutiainen, with seasonal cocktails.
